5 Ways to Safely Use Essential Oils

Diffuse

This is one of the most common ways that people use essential oils. Using an aromatherapy diffuser is a fabulous way to fill your living space with your favorite scents. Simply add 3-5 drops of your preferred essential oils to a diffuser and let the scent of the oils fill the room.

Room Spray

All you need for this is your choice of essential oils, water, and a spray bottle. To create your own room spray, add 10 drops of essential oil for every ounce of water to a spray bottle. Then, shake well before each use and spritz your room when needed.

Bath

Essential oils are lovely to use when bathing. However, it is important to always dilute the essential oils before adding them to your bath water. To dilute, add 10 drops of essential oils to 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil, or to ¼ cup of Epsom salts. Then, add the mixture into warm bath water.

Massage and Body Oil

You can easily add a scent to your massage/body oils by using essential oils. To do so, add 5-10 drops of essential oil to an ounce of jojoba oil or other liquid carrier oil of your choice. Then apply your new aromatherapy body oil when you are in need of a hydration boost.

Personal Aromatherapy Inhaler

One of the most effective ways to benefit from essential oils is through direct inhalation. Direct inhalation refers to the technique of breathing in an essential oil directly from a bottle, tissue, handkerchief, or cotton ball. Direct inhalations are most commonly used to give the body relief of respiratory congestion and emotional distress. This form of aromatherapy also has a great effect on the nervous system.
