Product Profile: Pink Clay

One of my favorite things is clay. I cannot stress enough how important clay is for the health of our skin. Clay is fresh from nature, pure, simple, and filled with natural minerals. So why the obsession with clay?

At janegee, we believe that the skin needs to be detoxed just like our bodies. Today, we deal with pollution particles floating in the air, which are smaller than the size of our pores, and therefore enter the skin very easily.

Clay masks benefit the skin and body by producing a charge that is electrical in nature when the clay comes in contact with a liquid. This is similar to how earthing (touching your bare feet to the earth, in particular, wet grass) works. When the clay touches any type of fluid (normally water), it takes on a different charge and is thought to bind to any toxins. The clay will take those toxins with it when washed away. Isn't that amazing! Such a simple ritual will detox and deeply cleanse your skin, leaving it soft, smooth and supple.

Our Pink Clay Mask is my favorite this time of year! It is considered to be the mildest of all our Clays and works well for normal, sensitive, and mature skin. The unique composition of minerals in pink clay will hydrate and soothe sensitive skins. Having said that it is good on all skin types. I love how silky smooth it feels. It is soft and gentle but a powerhouse when it comes to detoxing and restoring the skin.

Pink Clay is rich in minerals, particularly silica, which gives the skin an extra boost and helps to replenish skin with the nourishment it needs to function well and retain moisture. Silica behaves a lot like collagen and elastin in the skin. The glue-like function of silica is imperative for helping to keep your nails, teeth, and hair robust and healthy. It is a natural anti-inflammatory that helps relieve skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The fact is that, just like how collagen production slows from around the age of 25, silica does too!

So who can use Pink Clay? Since pink clay cleanses the skin deeply with no irritation, it’s an essential addition to your beauty routine if you have dry, sensitive or reactive skin. I also recommend it for sensitive scalps as a hair treatment.

The benefits:

  • Restores radiance to the skin
  • Softens and hydrates the skin
  • Helps treat damaged skin
  • Reduces redness
  • Helps smooth skin’s texture
  • Revitalizes and nourishes the scalp

There are so many different ways to use our Pink Clay. Here are some of our favorites:

Face Mask

Just add water (or a Floral Water) and mix! Apply all over a clean face, leave on for 10-20 minutes (the longer the better), and rinse off with warm water and a face cloth.

Bath Powder

Add the powder directly to your bath to aid in detoxing your body. Great for soothing and softening your skin.

Hand Treatment

Pink Clay is one of our favorite clays to use as a hand treatment. Dry aging skin will benefit from the clay's ability to stimulate micro dermal circulation. The increase in blood supplied to the cells will invigorate and nourish tired skin cells. Leaving your hands looking more youthful, soft, and supple.

Hair Masks

Clay has so many amazing benefits for the hair and scalp. It is detoxifying, disinfecting, purifying, controls sebaceous glands, and blocks the excessive sebum secretion. It also helps soothe any irritations, and nourishes hair roots. You can also use the fine clay for styling a hairdo. Those with thick, flat, and easily weighed-down hair love clay.  Its ability to increase blood flow helps boosts hair growth. It is ideal for sensitive scalps and fragile hair (thin and oily). It is also good at soothing scalp sunburns on those with fair hair. To use, simply mix with your favorite hair oil to create an nourishing hair and scalp conditioning mask. Leave on for 10-20 minutes and rinse out.

Underarm Detox

Switching to a natural deodorant? Use the Pink Clay to help detox your body from the chemical deodorants you were using. Simply prepare the mask and apply it under your arms. For more information, check out our recent blog on natural deodorant.
